Debt prioritisation and collection process

This one day course examines in detail priority and non priority debts to give you an understanding of their key features and sanctions for non payment. The course also examines the guidelines that creditors follow when collecting non priority debts.

This training will give you the knowledge and skills to

  • identify common priority and non priority debts and their key features
  • describe the appropriate action for dealing with priority and non priority arrears
  • outline the sanctions for non payment of priority debts
  • identify specialist referral agencies
  • outline the collections process for non priority debts
  • describe how debt collection activity is governed by regulatory guidelines, and
  • describe how to deal with potential harassment from creditors.
