We have developed the first Ofqual accredited unit awards in money and debt advice. The Institute of Credit Management (ICM), Europe’s largest professional credit management organisation, is the awarding body for the qualifications.
These units will lead to an ICM Diploma in Money and Debt Advice – the first nationally regulated, formal qualification of its kind.
Unit details
There are six money and debt advice units in total. Each one corresponds to one of our training courses. Credits from each of the units can be accumulated towards either a Diploma in Money and Debt Advice or a Diploma in Credit Management (minimum 37 credits required).
The qualification is very flexible. You can study towards the diploma by completing all six units or just study for one and receive an individual unit award.
After attending a training course, you can complete an assignment that leads to the unit award. Assignments have both a principles and a practice section, you can choose to study just one or both sections.
Attending the relevant training will give you the knowledge you need to complete the principles section. For the practical section you will need to use your own experience of giving advice and refer to your organisation’s policies.
Awards can be achieved at Level 2 (equivalent to GSCE A-C) or Level 3 (A-Level standard), depending on the standard of your responses.
Getting started
If you are not already a member of the ICM, then you will need to register. To do this please complete the ICM’s online application form or if you prefer to speak to someone you can call the ICM membership team on 01780 722903.
Once you have registered with the ICM please contact us to book the courses you wish to attend.
The assignments
There are three assessment submission dates throughout the year, January, June and October. There is a fee of £64 for each assignment that you submit. This is payable to the ICM.
Coaching support
We recommend you have a coach to support you during your studies. We have experienced trainers with extensive money and debt advice knowledge who can provide this support to you. After your training course, your coach would be available to give advice over the telephone or via email. They can also check your work and give you feedback before submission. A fee of £90.00 provides 90 minutes of support.
If you would like to purchase the coaching package, or for more information, please contact us.
