People who come through our counselling process are sometimes recommended to take up an individual voluntary arrangement, which is a form of personal insolvency - known as an IVA.
On an IVA you will make monthly payments over 60 or 72 months and the creditors will then write off the rest of the debt. This means you will usually pay less than you owe.
To extend our service to support people through the IVA process we set up Consumer Credit Counselling Service Voluntary Arrangements (CCCSVA). CCCSVA is a limited company and any money it makes is passed back to the charity, which helps us to continue to offer all our advice services free of charge.
To find out if an individual voluntary arrangement is right for you, access our online debt counselling tool CCCS Debt Remedy.
