Local debt help guide for Oxford

Oxford looks set to suffer most from government cuts announced in the Comprehensive Spending Review. So we have prepared this Free Debt Help Guide for Oxford.

A huge 46% of Oxford’s workforce is currently employed in the public sector. That’s the highest in the country, leaving Oxford likely to be hit hard by the planned public sector job cuts.

The government plans to cut ½ million public sector jobs and some economists put the real figure at 725,000.

These cuts will have dramatic impact on regions like Oxford whose workforce relies heavily on public sector employment.

The cuts will be taking place at the same time as reductions in welfare benefits including housing benefits, Child Benefit and Child Tax Credit.

Local advice centres in Oxford are already reporting 2010 as a record year for people seeking debt advice.
