Local Debt Help Guide for Ceredigion

Ceredigion is bracing itself for the severe government cuts announced in the Comprehensive Spending Review. In anticipation of this, we at CCCS have produced a Debt Help Guide for Ceredigion.

A huge 42% of Ceredigion’s total workforce is employed within the public sector, and job cuts within this sector are set to hit the region hard.

Around ½ million public sector jobs are expected to be lost as a result of the spending review. Some economists believe this to be an underestimate and think that up to 725,000 jobs will be lost.

A dramatic impact will be felt in places like Ceredigion, where the public sector is a major source of employment.

Additional reductions in the welfare budget, affecting housing benefits, Child Benefit and Child Tax Credit will only make matters worse.
