If you are renting your home and think you may struggle to keep up with the payments, there are a number of things you can do.

Redundancy may well affect your ability to pay your rent. There are a number of options open to you.
Benefits
If you are receiving certain benefits such as Jobseekers Allowance, you may be able to apply for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit to help you stay in your home until you have found a new job.
Some local authorities also provide a discretionary housing payment if you qualify.
Reduced payments
If you are already in arrears with your rent and have not contacted your local housing authority or landlord, you must contact them as soon as possible to find out what options you have. You may be able to arrange a short-term reduced payment.
You may be at risk of eviction if you choose to ignore the problem.
Moving
Moving to a cheaper rented property is something you may also need to consider.
