Advisor's Guide to IVA
Who is the course for?
With no sign of the consumer debt mountain becoming smaller,
more and more people are taking out Individual Voluntary
Arrangements (IVAs). As a result the Consumer Credit Counselling
Service has developed this course to equip delegates who have an
interest or a requirement to advise people about appropriate
debt solutions.
Aim of the course
The overall aim of the course is to enable delegates to identify
when an Individual Voluntary Arrangement (IVA) is an
appropriate solution and explain the impact of a voluntary
arrangement on an individual and their family.
Course content
This one day course (09:30 – 4:30) will enable you to:
- Define an IVA
- Identify when an IVA may be an appropriate solution
- List the advantages and disadvantages of an IVA
- Describe the role of an Insolvency Practitioner
- Explain the procedure for obtaining an IVA
- List the client’s obligations under an IVA
- Describe the lifecycle of an IVA
- Discuss the IVA market and ethical providers
