Advisor's Guide to Bankruptcy
Who is the course for?
In response to the soaring number of insolvency cases in
England and Wales, the Consumer Credit Counselling Service
has developed this course to equip delegates who have an
interest or a requirement to advise people when bankruptcy
is an appropriate solution to clear their debts.
Aim of the course
The overall aim of the course is to enable delegates to identify
when bankruptcy is an appropriate solution as well as assisting
the client with the bankruptcy process.
Course content
This one day course (09:30 – 4:30) will enable you to:
- Define bankruptcy
- Identify who can petition for bankruptcy
- State which debts are excluded from bankruptcy
- List the advantages and disadvantages of bankruptcy
for the individual and their family
- Describe the courts powers
- Outline the legal requirements imposed on an
undischarged bankrupt
- Explain the effects of bankruptcy on the individual
- Identify behaviour which could lead to further
bankruptcy restrictions
